About this opportunity
The Impart & Nalli Fellowships support independent research and creative projects exploring underexplored textile histories, practices and traditions across South Asia. For the 2027–28 cycle, two Research Fellowships will be awarded, each providing INR 5.5 lakh to support one year of independent research and project development. The fellowship runs from January to December 2027.
Requirements
- Be 18 years or older.
- Reside anywhere in the world.
- Propose a project focused on South Asian textiles.
- Applicants may include:
- Early- and mid-career researchers
- Designers
- Archivists
- Journalists
- Writers
- Educators
- Artists and practitioners
- Collectives
- Small organisations.
- Projects can be new or ongoing.
- Collaborative projects are permitted.
- Submit the required project proposal, budget, timeline, CV/work samples and other application materials.
- Selected fellows must develop research outputs during the fellowship period.
