About this opportunity

The Martin Roth-Initiative provides temporary relocation and protection stays in Germany for artists and cultural actors who face threats, persecution or restrictions because of their work or other circumstances. Selected participants are hosted by a non-profit cultural organisation in Germany, allowing them to continue their artistic or cultural work in a safer environment. The 2027 funding round supports stays beginning as early as 1 March 2027

Requirements

- Be an artist or cultural practitioner at risk. - Be active in a field such as: - Music - Visual arts - Dance - Theatre - Literature - Media - Other cultural practices. - Be committed through your work to: - An open society - Freedom - Peace - Democracy. - Reject discrimination. - Experience restrictions, persecution or threats from state or non-state actors. - Still be active in your region of origin, have only recently left it, or be unsafe in your current place of residence. - Have a German non-profit cultural organisation willing to host you. - Apply jointly with the host organisation. - Submit both the artist application and host organisation application. - Develop a project that can realistically be continued during the relocation period.
