About this opportunity
The OIST Research Internship is a competitive research opportunity for international students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in a research laboratory under the supervision of OIST faculty. The Spring 2027 internship will take place between 1 April and 30 September 2027, with individual placements lasting 4–6 months.
Requirements
- Be currently enrolled in the final two years of a Bachelor's degree or in a Master's programme at a university, college or vocational institution in Japan or overseas; or be a graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Have an academic background appropriate for the selected research unit.
- Currently enrolled students must obtain approval from their home institution.
- Submit the required application documents in English.
- Provide academic transcripts and relevant degree/enrolment documentation.
- Submit a statement of purpose and recommendation letter(s).
- Select suitable OIST research units/projects.
- Current PhD students are not eligible for this internship.
