The Impact AI Fellowship brings together people from research, journalism, civil society, public institutions and industry to assess the social and environmental effects of real-world AI applications. During the ten-week programme, fellows apply a structured impact-assessment method to a selected AI use case, work with researchers and practitioners, and produce a case report. The programme is suitable for professionals who want to evaluate whether AI systems serve the public interest and contribute to sustainability. It is a funded professional fellowship rather than a grant for launching a business.

Requirements checklist

    Hold a master’s degree.

  2. 02

    Demonstrate a serious interest in AI, sustainability or public-interest technology.

  3. 03

    Submit a CV of no more than four pages.

  4. 04

    Submit a motivation letter of no more than two pages.

  5. 05

    Include a description of a proposed AI project if applicable.

  6. 06

    Commit to required online sessions and the specified in-person activities in Berlin.
