About this opportunity
The UNESCO AfriMAB GRÓ-LRT Land Restoration Fellowship is a fully funded six-month postgraduate training programme for professionals working in African UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. Hosted at the Agricultural University of Iceland, the programme combines classroom instruction, field training, and an individual restoration project tailored to the fellow's home institution. Fellows earn 30 ECTS postgraduate credits and a GRÓ LRT Diploma upon successful completion. The 2027 programme runs from 26 February 2027 for six months.
Requirements
- Be under 40 years of age.
- Work in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Africa and play a significant role in ecosystem restoration.
- Have at least one year of relevant professional experience in a biosphere reserve.
- Hold at least one university degree in a relevant field such as:
- Ecology
- Environmental Management
- Natural Sciences
- Forestry
- Agriculture
- Geography
- Land Restoration
- Related disciplines.
- Demonstrate proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Obtain:
- A letter of endorsement from the biosphere reserve where you work.
- A letter of endorsement from your country's National MAB Focal Point or MAB Committee.
