About this opportunity
In Listening is CTM Festival's new format replacing its long-running Radio Lab. The 2027 open call seeks works rooted in experimental sound practices and audio art, particularly projects exploring the boundaries between sound, noise, music, storytelling, poetry, documentation and listening. Selected works will be developed into both a live presentation at CTM Festival 2027 in Berlin and a radio work for Deutschlandfunk Kultur and ORF.
Requirements
- Be an artist working with experimental sound, audio art or related practices.
- Submit an original work strongly grounded in sound as the primary medium.
- Proposed work should respond to the CTM 2027 theme “Process…ing.”
- Demonstrate how active listening informs the proposed work.
- Develop the proposal for two complementary formats:
- A live presentation at CTM 2027.
- A radio broadcast/audio work.
- Works may incorporate:
- Text
- Music
- Spoken word
- Poetry
- Storytelling
- Field recordings
- Soundscapes
- Noise
- Documentation.
- Complex video-based works and elaborate scenography are outside the scope of this call.
- Submit the application in English.
- Provide:
- Project description and rough budget — maximum 4 pages
- Technical requirements
- CV
- Duos and groups may apply, but one person must be designated as the main applicant.
