About this opportunity
The Hayama Artist Residency is a 4-week international visual arts residency in Hayama, Kanagawa, Japan. The June 2027 programme aims to introduce artists from around the world to Japanese culture while providing them with an opportunity to exhibit their work in Japan. Residents live in a small coastal Japanese town and participate in a group exhibition during their stay.
Requirements
- Be a visual artist aged 21 or older.
- Be based anywhere in the world.
- Work in any visual-art medium.
- Applicants of all races, genders, cultures and religions are eligible.
- Submit the application in English.
- Provide a portfolio/work samples as requested through the application.
- Be available for the full residency period.
- Be prepared to participate in the residency's group exhibition.
- The residency is intended for individual artists.
- Selected artists are expected to engage with the residency and Japanese cultural environment.
