OIST Research Internship Spring2027: Japan

The OIST Research Internship is a competitive research opportunity for international students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in a research laboratory under the supervision of OIST faculty. The Spring 2027 internship will take place between 1 April and 30 September 2027, with individual placements lasting 4–6 months.
Requirements checklist

Be currently enrolled in the final two years of a Bachelor's degree or in a Master's programme at a university, college or vocational institution in Japan or overseas; or be a graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

Have an academic background appropriate for the selected research unit.

Currently enrolled students must obtain approval from their home institution.

Submit the required application documents in English.

Provide academic transcripts and relevant degree/enrolment documentation.

Submit a statement of purpose and recommendation letter(s).

Select suitable OIST research units/projects.
- 08
Current PhD students are not eligible for this internship.
