The University of Birmingham offers a range of postgraduate research scholarships and studentships for doctoral researchers. The College of Arts and Law Doctoral Scholarships include both fully funded and partially funded awards for campus-based doctoral research. The University has confirmed that the 2027 funding round will be announced in Autumn 2026.
Requirements checklist

Must apply for an eligible doctoral research programme at the University of Birmingham.

Must normally hold, or be completing, a relevant Master's degree.

Must demonstrate strong academic and research potential.

Proposed research should align with the relevant College/school research priorities.

Must meet the University's admission requirements for the selected PhD programme.
- 06
International applicants can apply for the relevant awards, although the funding terms may differ from those for Home students.
