Rhodes University Patrick & Margaret Flanagan Scholarship 2027

The Patrick & Margaret Flanagan Scholarship is a prestigious postgraduate scholarship for South African women undertaking full-time Master's or doctoral studies at an international university. For the 2027 cycle, Rhodes University has confirmed applications are open from 24 August to 24 September 2026. The scholarship supports study at international institutions, with preference given to universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin.

- Must be a South African woman graduate. - Must be an English-speaking woman, meaning English is either the applicant's home language or she has a strong affinity for the language. - Must demonstrate academic excellence. - Must demonstrate strong intellectual and personal qualities. - Must intend to undertake full-time postgraduate study. - Study must be at an international university or tertiary institution. - Applicants must submit a motivation letter, academic CV, certified academic transcript and certified ID/passport. - Academic CV must include contact details for three academic referees, one of whom must be a Head of Department or Dean.
