About this opportunity
The Machine Alignment, Transparency & Security (MATS) Residency is a full-time research programme for researchers working on AI alignment, transparency, safety and security. Residents develop their own research agenda with significant independence while receiving mentorship, research support and access to computing resources. The programme is based in London, Berkeley and Washington, DC.
Requirements
- Must be strongly motivated to work on AI alignment, safety, transparency or security.
- Must demonstrate the ability to conduct serious, high-quality research.
- Applicants can come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
- Relevant backgrounds may include machine learning, computer science, mathematics, policy, economics, physics, biology and other fields.
- Prior AI-safety experience is not necessarily required.
- Must be available for full-time participation.
- Academics on sabbatical may be considered for part-time participation on a case-by-case basis.
