About this opportunity
The SENSS ESRC Studentships provide fully funded postgraduate research studentships across eight UK universities and six interdisciplinary social-science themes. The 2027/28 competition is for students starting in October 2027. Both UK and international applicants can apply, although the number of awards available to international students is limited to approximately 10 per year.
Requirements
- Must apply to an eligible SENSS partner university.
- Must identify and speak with a proposed academic supervisor before applying.
- For a PhD-only studentship, normally need qualifications equivalent to a Master's degree or appropriate research skills.
- For a Master's + PhD pathway, need qualifications or professional experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with Honours.
- Must develop a research proposal aligned with one of SENSS's interdisciplinary themes.
- International applicants are eligible, subject to the limited international allocation.
- Applicants already undertaking a PhD may apply if they have not completed a substantial proportion of the programme.
