The Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MSc-HPE) scholarship is a fully funded postgraduate opportunity offered through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda. It is designed for young African professionals who want to improve how healthcare professionals are trained, taught and supervised across Africa. The 18-month programme uses a blended learning format, combining online study with in-person sessions. Scholars develop skills in curriculum design, clinical teaching, educational research, academic leadership and quality assurance. The programme aims to strengthen healthcare education and improve health outcomes across the continent.
Requirements checklist

Must be a citizen and resident of an African country, or hold refugee status in an African country.

Must be 35 years old or younger in the year of application, with exceptions for applicants with disabilities.

Must hold a Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.

Must provide official academic transcripts and a degree certificate.
- 05
Professional experience in teaching, supervision or educational leadership in a health-related higher education institution is preferred. Early-career applicants may demonstrate teaching potential.

Currently employed applicants must submit a signed and stamped institutional recommendation confirming support and time to participate in online and in-person sessions.

Must not already hold a Master's degree to qualify for the Mastercard Foundation scholarship.

Must submit the required identification and supporting documents.

Must commit to completing the full MSc programme.
