EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee
All Information
The EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee supports international cultural projects connected to the European Capitals of Culture and Japanese artists. For the 2027 cycle, projects should connect with Liepāja, Latvia, or Évora, Portugal, or have a meaningful relationship with a past, current or future European Capital of Culture. The committee prioritises projects that promote youth empowerment, coexistence with nature, diversity and social regeneration. It is intended to encourage cultural cooperation and long-term relationships between Japanese artists and European cultural communities, rather than simply provide unrestricted money for an individual artist.
Requirements checklist
- 01
The proposed project must involve Japanese artists or artists based in Japan, regardless of their nationality.
- 02
It must also meet at least one of the committee's stated European Capital of Culture criteria.
- 03
Applicants should demonstrate that they have researched and prepared the project, that the organisers and participating artists are independent, and that the project has a credible budget.
- 04
The committee gives priority to applicants who are also seeking support from governments, public bodies or foundations, as applicable to the project location.
- 05
Applicants must complete the electronic application, provide the required supporting documents and submit an activity report after the funded project concludes. The committee may interview participating Japanese artists before making its final decision.
