Biotech Booster Programme: Level1 Proof-of-Principle Funding

Days left6w leftNovember 24, 2026

All Information

Biotech Booster helps researchers and early-stage innovators turn biotechnology discoveries into practical products or services that can eventually be commercialised. Level 1 funding is intended for ideas that have a scientific basis but still need early testing to establish whether they can work in practice and whether there is a plausible route to market. Support is designed to help teams validate their ideas, develop early evidence, and move a promising discovery toward a commercially viable application. This is a strong fit for biotechnology ventures emerging from research institutions, but it is not a general small-business grant and is not intended for unrelated business ideas.

Requirements checklist

  1. 01

The applicant must be a researcher, project team, or innovative startup affiliated with a knowledge institute.

  2. 02

The proposed project must be based on an innovative biotechnology idea with potential practical and commercial application.

  3. 03

The project should be at the proof-of-principle stage: scientifically plausible, but not yet fully validated in practical or commercial terms.

  4. 04

Applicants should work with their knowledge institute's Knowledge Transfer Office or the programme's business or impact developers to develop the project.

  5. 05

A pre-application is required. The programme will publish the relevant form and detailed call information when the round opens.

  6. 06

Selected applicants will be invited into the next stage of the selection process; funding is not automatically awarded upon submission.

  7. 07

The programme is national in scope and is intended to commercialise Dutch biotechnology discoveries. The official call should be checked carefully for the required Dutch institutional or project connection before applying.
