Danish Arts Foundation: SampleTranslations from Danish

Days left17w leftFebruary 12, 2027

All Information

This grant helps publishers and literary agencies finance a sample translation of a Danish-language work into another language. A sample translation allows a publisher to assess the quality, market potential, and suitability of a book before committing to a full translation and publication. The programme is especially useful when an international publisher is interested in a Danish novel, children's book, young-adult title, or other eligible literary work but needs a professionally translated extract to evaluate the project. It helps translators receive payment for sample work and supports the international discovery of Danish literature. The grant is specifically for sample translations, not the full translation or publication of an entire book. Applicants must identify the work and translator and explain the sample's intended role in assessing a possible full edition.
