The Academy Project Funding scheme supports ambitious, high-quality scientific research designed to produce significant advances in knowledge and strengthen research-team capability. It funds researchers and research teams working across scientific disciplines, including interdisciplinary projects with potential scientific or societal impact. The programme can cover researcher salaries, team recruitment, and direct research expenses over a multi-year period. However, it is not a grant that a researcher can independently take up from Nigeria: applications must be made through an eligible Finnish research site, and the organisation must meet the Research Council’s funding conditions.
