The Yaa Asantewaa Art Prize 2026 is the sixth edition of Gallery 1957's flagship prize dedicated to supporting women artists. Named after the legendary Ghanaian Queen Mother Yaa Asantewaa, the prize celebrates artistic excellence and female leadership. For the first time, the prize expands beyond Ghana to Senegal through a partnership with the Institut Français du Sénégal. Two winners: one Ghanaian and one Senegalese artist: will participate in a unique cultural exchange residency between the two countries. The initiative aims to develop into a leading platform for female African artists.
