Sabi Arts Playwright Prize2026/2027

The inaugural Sabi Arts Playwright Prize recognises original full-length plays written by Nigerian playwrights. The competition welcomes different genres, styles and themes, providing an opportunity for writers to have their work recognised and professionally staged. The grand-prize winner receives a cash award, a professional production of the winning play and entry into the Sabi Arts Writer’s Residency. Two additional prizes recognise outstanding work, including a prize dedicated to a play written by a woman that centres women's lives and experiences. This is a particularly relevant opportunity for Nigerian playwrights seeking both financial recognition and a route towards professional theatre production.
