The Idea Fund supports experimental, artist-led projects that engage the public, respond to community needs or explore innovative ways of creating and presenting art. It accepts applications from individual artists and collectives proposing projects such as exhibitions, public performances, community events, creative publications, installations, screenings and digital-art projects. Applicants can submit a written or video proposal and choose the funding level appropriate to their project. The grant is designed to help artists develop unconventional ideas that may not fit traditional arts-funding programmes.
Requirements checklist

The lead artist must reside in one of the eligible Greater Houston-area counties.

Applicants may apply individually or as a collective.

The project should be innovative, artist-centred and public-facing.

Prepare a clear project proposal, work samples and realistic budget.

Explain the artistic vision, intended community engagement and ability to deliver the project.
